our stylist picks: statement pants this season
A great top is easy to find. A great pair of pants is what makes the outfit. This season our stylist is steering everyone toward statement bottoms — volume, drape and tailoring that do the work while the top stays simple. These are the picks, and how to wear each one.
balloon pants
The shape of the season: full through the leg, cinched at the ankle. Balloon pants give you the drama of a wide leg without swallowing your shoes, and they're more forgiving than they look — the volume starts at the hip, not the waist.
Wear them with something fitted or tucked: a fitted knit, a tucked shirt, the Lena tie top. Keep footwear minimal — a flat, a slingback — so the taper stays the focus.
silk balloon pants
The Lila in silk is the evening version of the same idea — a sheer, fluid fabric that moves when you do and catches light at dinner. It reads far more dressed-up than a cotton pant, so treat it like an event piece.
Style it with a plain camisole or the Silk Lagoon halter and nothing dangling. The fabric is the embellishment.
skirted pants
The best of both: the movement of a skirt with the ease of a pant. A skirted pant layers over the leg like a wrap, so it flatters where a wide leg can overwhelm, and it travels beautifully — no riding up, no adjustment.
Wear it with a short or cinched top so the waistline stays visible — that contrast is the whole look. It's our stylist's first pick for wedding events and dinners where you want to look put-together without a gown.
tailored statement pants
Not every statement shouts. A sharply tailored pant in a strong colour or a structured cut reads expensive from across the room. These are the pairs to build a workday-to-dinner wardrobe around.
Full-length and high-waisted, they work with everything already in your closet — the Off-Duty shirt, a fitted tee, a fine knit. Add a belt and the outfit is done.
bermudas, but make them tailored
The bermuda had a renaissance this year, and the trick is in the tailoring: a pressed crease, a proper waistband, a length that ends just at or below the knee. Anything slouchier reads like loungewear.
Style them like you would a trouser — with a structured shirt or a fitted top and a flat or a low heel. The Midnight Disco bermudas in brocade are the version for evenings; the organza-edge pair is the one for everything else.
the stylist's rule
One statement at a time. If the pants have volume, the top fits close; if the top has drama, the pants stay tailored. Pick the piece you want people to notice and let everything else get out of the way.
And fit matters more here than anywhere else in your wardrobe — every pair's garment chart lives on its product page, and we're at ishq@ishqeamore.com if you want a second opinion before ordering.
